Celebrating Our Differences

ree

Mr. Rogers wanted us to believe that we are all rare and valuable. That it is our uniqueness that adds to the world. Therefore it is important to celebrate these differences - and a good way to do that is through stories.

The Duck That Was Different is the newest book in the re-imagined classics series. This book is inspired by The Ugly Duckling, and has duckling siblings who find a lost duck, and though he is different, they are happy to include him in their fun. His difference is never defined, (although some think maybe he is a rubber duck), so the focus is on inclusion, acceptance and friendship.

This book is available exclusively through the quiteacharacter bookstore

Book Recommendation:

Another book that has a bird that is different is Carrie Can Fly Too by Ashley and Breanna Bolliger.

This fun rhyming story has an important lesson to teach, and to learn.

"Just because you are a different breed does not mean that you can not succeed."

It connects the reader to what it feels like to be different, and then the reality that we are all different!
